A classic, American dish - ketofied.
Burgers are an all-time family favorite. This doesn’t change just because you are dieting. When you can no longer have all of the ingredients you are used to, change it up! Bunless burgers may seem less fulfilling, but they are still chuck full of flavor and fats. I especially love adding a cooked egg on top. The flavor intensifies as the yolk drips down, making it that much more delicious.
This meal is relatively easy and usually a hit with the kids. Not only do they get to customize their burger with their favorite toppings, but they also get to eat with their hands! The lettuce wrap allows you to pick it up and eat it like any other burger.
Burgers - the keto way!
1 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
4 large romaine lettuce leaves
1 small tomato
1 teaspoon oil for frying
Combine beef, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce and all seasonings in a medium bowl and mix well. Form into 4 hamburger patties.
Heat a skillet over medium heat.
Add burger patties to skillet and cook 5 minutes. Flip and cook another 5 minutes, or until desired doneness is achieved.
Remove burgers from skillet. Add a teaspoon of olive oil and crack eggs into pan. Season with salt and pepper and allow to cook 3-4 minutes. The edges will begin crisping but the yolk will remain runny.
Top romaine lettuce leaf with sliced tomato, burger patty and egg. Top with condiments, such as mayo, mustard as desired.
Serve and enjoy!
